dinosaurs endotherm

Essay topics

The reading and the listening are about whether or not dinosaurs were endotherms. The author of the reading feels there is evidence to suggest that dinosaurs were animals of this type. The professor, on the other hand, is not convinced of this. He casts doubt on each of the theories presented in the reading.
first of all, the author claims that dinosaurs fossils were discovered in the polar region. only the endotherms animal would maintain the temperature as surrounding in the polar region. this argument is challenged by the lecturer.she says that the polar region was warmer than today and maybe dinosaurs have migrated to another place during cold or maybe they hibernated.
secondly, the author states that endotherms have legs underneath the body, as the dinosaurs have which helps them while running. this argument is rebutted in the lecture. The lecturer states that the presence of leg help dinosaurs to grow larger in size.
finally, the author mentions that a structure called Haversian canal is included in endotherms which allow animals to grow quickly and rapidly as dinosaurs do. the lecturer cast doubt on this by arguing that apart from the canal dinosaurs also has growth rings which serve as a piece of evidence that they grow slowly in cold periods and rapidly in the warm periods. this fluctuation in growth is the characteristic of non-endothermic animals.
