Edmontosaurus s likely migration

Essay topics:

Edmontosaurus’s likely migration

The reading and the lecture are both about the elephant-size dinosaur which were called Edmontosaurus’s likely migration during extremely cold and dark winters in Alaska. Accordingly, the author provides three theories to prove this migration. On the other hand, the professor is not convinced of this and casts doubt on each of these theories presented in the passage. The lecturer is of the opinion that hardly these claims are capable of giving credence to this migration.
Firstly, author argues that these animals were dependent on plant as their only source of their food. Since scarcely plants could grow in the harsh and frigid climate of the region, dinosaurs were pushed to migrate to find food. This specific argument is challenged by the lecturer. According to her, 100 million years ago the weather seems to be warmer than today, and 24-hour sunshine right in the middle of sky in the summer lead to plants grow exceedingly and profoundly. Subsequently, all these plants died in the winter, and could produced a bunch of notorious dead plants which could feed dinosaurs and release them from immigration.
Secondly, the writer disputes that finding many skeletons of these animals in the region lead to concluding that they lived in herds; Therefore, they could have migrated because living in herd help managing it. The lecture, in contrast, opposes this notion by asserting that living in herds can occur because of other reasons including protection against enemies. The professor presented an example of Rosa welt which lives in forest in order to support her assertation that not all animals living in herds immigrate downright.
Finally, the writer averts that although there was a long distance between their habitat and the destination of migration, however these animals could run fast and were able of this departure. The lecturer’s stance is that the writer has not considered the young ones which were not physically prepare for these long distances. Moreover, she points outs that the young animals slowed down the herd from running and adults were not capable of living them behind because they could not protect themselves.
