Elephants behavior's beliefs in people.

Essay topics:

Elephants behavior's beliefs in people.

The reading and the lecture are both about elephants. They are the largest land animals in modern world. The author of reading believes that elephants have some surprising behaviors. These behaviors are beliefs of people. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in the article. He says that there is misunderstanding on elephant's behavior.

First of all, the author claims that elephants are aware of their death. So, when they become older they go alone at certain location. They often found near the water, and that is called elephant’ graveyards’. This point is challenged by the lecturer. She says that when they become older, their teeth become weak, so they try to find soft food. Soft food is easy to chew for them. Elephants go near water because soft food is available near water area. After some time when they find their food, they die over there.

Secondly, the author states that elephants represent objects through the art. He mentions that elephants can teach to hold paintbrush in the trunk and use it to paint canvas. The lecturer rebuts this argument. He says that they trained to remember some brush stroke by artist. He elaborates on this by mentioning that their ears are sensitive, so they trained by touch on their ear to teach certain patterns of the stokes.

Thirdly, the author mentions that elephants afraid from the mice. Author believes that they stay away from mice and left area where mice are present. The lecture, on the other hand, states that if elephants are unfamiliar with animals then they try to avoid them. He puts the forth that elephants who are from zoo they never afraid from mice. So, once they become known to the mice then they never pose a threat.

In conclusion, the lecturer effectively casts doubt on all of the beliefs presented in the reading.
