Humans have long been fascinated by elephants, the largest land animal in the modern world. Social animals that live in herds, elephants are native to both Africa and Asia. Their large ears, long trunk, and long life span have made elephants one of the mo

In the reading, author presents three interesting behaviors in elephants. However, in the lecture, the professor points out to some fact that cast doubt on all the argument presented in the reading passage. She states elephants are fascinating animals but their behavior has been misinterpreted by the author.
First of all, the reading claims that elephants are aware of approaching death and they break away from other group members. However, the lecturer clarifies that this action is due to their chewing problem not due to the awarness of death. She states, old elephants have less efective teeth and they can not eat the same grass and vegatations that are used by young age elephants. In fact, they break away from the group to graze around areas with softer vegatation which is usually near the pond and water. Therefore, their grave yard would be at that area as well.
Moreover, the claim of painting by elephant is challenged by the lecturer. She refutes their painting and clarifies that their ears is very sensitive and can be train to redirect the moving line of brush stroke. She states without that training they can not make any painting just they can make few lines.
Lastly, the fear of mice in the passage about the elephant was opposed by the speaker. She says that their action to the mice is not because of their fear. In fact, they behave strange when they see something unfamiliar. Therefore, in the zoo that they are familiar with mices they do not react and do not pose them a threat but in their natural habitat which thay are not familiar with mice, they react like they are scared.
