Both the reading and the lecture discuss buildings' glasses which are very dangerous for wild birds. In the reading section, the writer proposes three possible solution to decline the danger of buldings' glasses for birds and provides three reasons for support; however, in the lecture the professor casts doubts on reading points by indicating that theses solutions are not effective.
First of all, the writer claims that one-way glasses can be useful for both occupants and birds because people can see outside, but birds cannot see inside, so birds do not fly toward glasses; in contrast, the professor rejects this notion by stating that one-way glasses sometimes are as same as mirror. Since birds cannot detect mirrors, they may fly through them when they see the image of tree or water in one-way glasses.
Moreover, the reading passage holds the view that using colorful designs on regular glass can be beneficial because birds can detect stripes on windows and avoid do not fly through the glass; conversely, the lecturer underlines the fact that strips are too thin to be detectable for birds and also, using thick strips hampers people from watching outside.
In addition, the writer mentions that using magnetic field can help birds to navigatr in the right direction during flying; on the contrary, the professor indicates magnetic feild can work just for long destinations forexample when birds migrate from cold city to warm city, but if they just fly from one side of a city to another part of it, birds' ability to sense magnetic fields will not work, so birds in short distances use their eyes to navigate.
