integrated task with passage and listening.

The lecture and the passage both talk about endotherms and several points have been made as to if or not the dinosaurs were endotherms. The author of the reading passage reasons about the dinosaurs being endotherms. However, the professor contends that the presented evidence in the passage is not proof that dinosaurs were endotherms. The professor casts doubt on the claims made in the passage with several points.
To begin with, the professor disputes the claim about dinosaurs in polar region by stating that the temprature in that part of the earth were much warmer in the pre historic periods. Nonetheless, during the winters , the dinosaurs may have migrated to a warmer location or hibernated like various other animals.
Secondly, the passage claims that dinosaurs were endotherms based on their leg positined below the body rather than on the side like other reptiles. The professor disagrees to the leg position theory by stating that these body structres were merely the result of huge size and were helpful in supporting the massive weight of these creatures. Being large clearly had its own advantage in survival so this explains the leg position.
Finally, the passage states that the presence of Harvesian canals like other explains why the dinosaurs were one of them.In contrast, the lecturer brings another evidence into light about the presence of growth rings. These growth rings indicate periodic growth in dinosaurs i.e they stopped growing in the winters and grew only during other season unlike the endotherms whose growth isn't affected by seasons.
in conclusion, the points made by the lecturer contradicts or disproves the claims made by the author of the paragraph. Thus the debate about dinosaurs being endotherms or not is disputable.
