The Northern Land Bridge

Essay topics:

The Northern Land Bridge

The passage and lecture both discuss the Clovis-first theory. The reading supports the idea of this theory while the professor in the lecture points out different anomalies in the theory that opposes the claim made by the passage.
The reading mentions that the finds of Clovis tools that date far back supports the idea that Asian were the ones that first migrated. However, the professor points out the archaeological evidences which suggests that the tools found in different sites dated back to as far as 19000 years while the Clovis tools only date back to about 13000 years ago. The professor, thus, says that the dates do not correspond to the evidences.
In addition, the lecture also points out that the oldest remains found in different parts of the country don't resemble the remains of Native Americans, According to professor, the landmass was colonized by variety of people before the settlers through Beringia moved towards North America.
Finally, the speaker in the lecture provides the evidence of DNA samples. He refutes the Clovis-first theory discussed in passage by pointing out that the analysis showed that people from Siberia settled in North America about 40000 years ago, far back than the first Clovis settlers.
