the possibilty of the use of an ancient weapon by the Greeks in a war against the Romans

The lecturer disputes the author's suggested theory that the Greeks had some highly advanced technological weapons. He provides several reason to cast doubt about the author's claims

First,The speaker does not agree with the first point made in the reading that ancient Greek did not have any advanced technological weapons. He contends that the ancient Greeks were equip ed with some highly advanced weapons like the multi-layer copper mirror which is capable to reflect more light to transmit more energy to cause highly destructive fire in a couple of minutes.
Second, according to the text the burning mirror weapon is not practical to be used because it takes more more than 10 minutes to cause fire. the speaker find idea debatable, he bolsters his opinion by stating that it is true that ships made of wood takes longer time to catch fire, However, some ships are not made only of glue, but also of glue which can easily catch fire. Moreover, ship that have glue can catch fire inspite of being in a moving position.

The author argues that the Greeks already had the burning arrows which is also an effective weapon to fight the Romans. The lecturer refutes this claim by stating that developing the burning mirror instead of the burning arrow has several advantages. Particularly, it can take the enemy by surprise which makes the fire more flammable and uncontrollable
