Essay topics:

productivity and rewards. summarize points made in lecture and explain how they cast doubt on points made in reading

The lecture and the reading are both about how the productivity and rewards are dependable on each other. A basic management principle is that when a behavior is rewarded it tends to increase the productivity. However in the lecture the speaker doubts if this method really works.

According to the passage whatever the type of reward is given, managerial consultants point out that the promise of such incentives improves employee attitudes, motivation, and productivity. To support this, the speakers says that the employees liked the rewarding schemes. Although, they just want to be paid and given respect for their hard work instead of just the rewarding scheme.

In addition to this the passage also says that some enterprise use other forms of compensation such as special privileges or perhaps, promotion or luxurious vacations and other bonuses in kind. In contrast to this, the speaker says that most of the times the rewards looks like a punishment because for the employees of high productivity the reward is seemed as though they are being controlled or manipulated to work. Additionally they think that they do not get the rewards as expected. Perhaps getting the reward other than expected looked as a punishment. This led to further disappointment.

On top of this , the speaker also says that the productivity schemes would ruin the relationship between the employee and the supervisor. For instance consider that if an employee arose with a doubt but he would withhold the doubt without clarifying it with the supervisor assuming the supervisor might abate the points for his reward scheme. This results in decrease of productivity.

Conclusively, if the reward system is correctly structured, productivity experts argue that it is possible to persuade people to meet remarkable results.
