In recent years, many frog species around the world have declined in numbers or even gone extinct due to changes in their environment. These population declines and extinctions have serious consequences for the ecosystems in which frogs live; for example,

The article and the lecture both discuss ways to prevent frogs population decline. The reading suggest different solutions to the problem. The lecturer, however, refutes the author's solutions and contends that non of these measures are unlikely to prevent this alarming decline

The first allegation of the script against which the orator argues is to reduce the usage of pesticides because the author think it is the main reason for the decline in frog's population. The lecturer refuted this point by stating that the reduce usage of pesticide is not economically practical, He asserts that farmers heavily depend on them to increase crops production. In other words if farmers stop using them, they will lose their competitive edge over other farmers because they will have lower yields.
Secondly, according to the Author fungus infection might be another reason for the decline in frog's population. The lecturer suggests that treating fungus infection will eventually lead to prevent the decline in frog's population because it will eradicate the infection. However, the lecturer contend that this approach is also not practical because frogs need to be treated individually, which is time consuming.Besides, treating frogs with the anti- fungus agents will not prevent the passage of infection to the next generation. Therefore, ultimately, it is not going to be an effective approach

Finally, the lecturer contradicts the fallacy of the passage that human activities are the reasons behind this decline because they drain water from lakes. He contends that lakes are running out of water not because of human activity, but because of global warming. In other words, the reduction in temperature is the solution to the problem and unfortunately not much things can be done about it.
