Summarize the points made in the lecture being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific methods proposed in the reading passage humpback whales navigation by stars

The professors starts by saying that, although the theory that the humpback whales are navigating the stars is a fascinating thing but the reasons provided in the passage are not enough strong. He thinks that reasons given in the passage are not acceptable. The professors then discusses on the reasons.

First of all, in the passage it is mentioned that the whales are the most intelligent animals than others which have a complex brain system that make them able to use the stars for navigation while migrating. However the professor does not agree with this theory. The professor believes that there are other animals which navigate the stars such as some types of birds. Therefore, this is not a specific capability for the humpback whales.

Second, based on the passage the humpback whales are keeping their movement straight while migrating, while there is no any external pathway to follow except using stars. But the professor thinks different, he believes that most of the animals are sensitive to the magnetic fields, therefore it could be possible that the whales are also going straight forward while migration based on this characterization.

The third one, Although the passage says that spy-hopping is a specific action done by these whales in order to see the stars and navigate the stars while immigration, the professor does not accept this. He says that there are other animals which are doing the spy-hopping action such as sharks, but they do not use this for migration purpose. Therefore, the spy-hopping could be done for purposes rather than navigating the stars for migration.
