The article states that zoos are essential in our modern world and they make value to animal’s life. But the professor in the lecture opposes with this idea. Not only he persists that there are lots of problems with the argument mentioned in the article, but also he states that zoos do not have benefits for society and even animals themselves.

As the first reason that the article mentioned, that it was: animals are treated well in zoos, the professor exampled a death incident of two pandas by exposing to rat poison in a zoo. He related this incident to lacking care and preventing of safety managers.

Another reason that was mentioned in the article was the educational aspect of the zoos. But the professor declares that averment by proving the statement which says: the presence of animals in the zoos is for entertainment. He gives an example about the zoos that aggregate animals to attract visitors and this has just one message, that is: use animals even if it is artificial and misleading exhibits.

As the last reason, the article claims that the zoos protect endangered species and cites an example of a kind of monkey, Taamar. The professor admits that case but states that it was just one successful sample and asserts the success rate is low. He also contends the way of saving endangered species is to interbreed them with their families, which causes birth defects. At last, he refutes all of the claims in the article by saying the zoos have no advantage to animal’s habitats.
