TOEFL T P O 12 Integrated Writing Task

The reading and the lecture are both about a picture which related with Jane Auston. The author of the reading feels that the girl in the portrait is Jane Austen. The lecturer challanges the claims made by the author. He is of the opinion that these theories are falce.
To begin with, the author argues that family members of Jane Austen confirm that Jane Austen was depicted in this portrait due to they let to be drawed her portrait after her death, and according to them, they clearly remembered it. This specific arguement is challanged by the lecturer. He claims that Jane Austen passed away aproximately 70 years ago. Therefore, these family members probably had never seen her face before. This method does not indicate that originality of this picture.
Secondly, the writer suggests that details of picture exactly resembles Jane Austen's face. Every part of her face is similar with her other portraits painted by her sister Cassandra. The lecturer, however, robuts it by mentioning that Jane had cousines and relatives who had the same age with her. This picture could demonstrate one of her niece, if we take account that her similarity with her niece in another pictures as well.
Finally, the author posits that Ozias Humphrey, portrait painter of community, was hired to draw pictures of family by Jane's family, had been painted in certain time periods, which that time Jane was a teenager. In contrast, the lecturer's position's is that during that the material behing of portrait was canvas, which was sold in London, when Jane was 27 years old. This is other contraversiol fact between her age in the picture.
