TPO-01 - Integrated Writing Task In the United States, employees typically work five days a week for eight hours each day. However, many employees want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay inorder to do so. A mandatory policy requiri

Both the reading and the lecture discuss the merits and demerits of working four-day a week instead of working five-days a week The writer focuses on the advantages of this plan and he provides three points of support. However, the professor refutes this idea and opposes each of the passage reasons.

First of all, the passage states that new policy of working four-day week will benefit the company itself as the employee will be rested and alert .Thus, it will decrease error in their work . However, the professor refutes this point by stating that this new policy will force the company to cost more money since the number of worker and trainer will increase ,that will leads to increase the cost of the medical insurances for them and purchasing new computers. This acutally cost the company more money.

Furthermore, the reading claims that new plan will be in favor of the employee because they will work less time for the same amount of money. On the other hand, the professor refutes this point by explaining that the new system will make the worker to work overtime as they will do more work at the end of the day .As a consequence, that will make the current job un pleasant for them.

Last but not least, the reading states that working four-day will improve the quality of the employees since they will have more time to spend with their families and do more activities.Nevertheless, the orator counteracts this idea by saying that this plan will decreas the quality of life and even more risks for them .Working less time will lower the chance of the job promotion and eventually the employees will lose their jobs.

As seen , the lecture refutes each point made in the reading.
