The reading passage states that in America, employees like and want to work for four-day in a week. This can be possible by paying them 80 percent of their income. However, the lecturer believes this situation would force companies to spend more in order to add more employees and health benefits would also be another impact.
First, the author of the passage expresses, working 4 days in a week would allow employees to be more rested and keep them alert. Employees would make less mistakes.
However, the lecturer says because of more free time employees might have more mistakes because they will leave their mind from the work they do.

Second, reading says that hiring more employees will not be an affect to the company. Because they pay only 80 percent of their income, hiring new employees will cover these limited payments.
In contrast, the lecturer believes having more employees definitely requires bigger places and more equipment like computers.

Third, the reading passage claims that hiring more employees will reduce unemployment and more people can easily find a job.
However, the lecturer says it does not mean unemployment will be finished by doing so. Also, the company’s executives will expect from their employees to do the same work like when they used to do while they were working five days in a week.

In conclusion, the reading passage believes employees would contribute their companies more by having better ideas. Also, they could have spare time and this freedom would improve their quality of living. And this would also give them the availability of pursuing private interests and enjoy the activities.
In contrast, the lecturer claims that more free time includes some risks. It does not mean their quality of life would improve because, they will have no stability. Because of these reasons, they could lose their jobs and could more likely acquire economic damage.

To sum up, the author of this reading believes reducing work days in the U.S. will definitely give both the companies and to the employees better conditions. However, the lecturer states that working less can be harmful in many ways.
