TPO-01 - Integrated Writing Task In the United States, employees typically work five days a week for eight hours each day. However, many employees want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay inorder to do so. A mandatory policy requiri

The lecture states that employees that work four-day per week are most useful for the companies than other employees and provide some reasons. However, the professor in the lecture casts doubt on this assertion and challenges all the reasons in the reading.
At first, the author of the passage believes that four-day week workers are beneficial for the companies. Because they accept to earn 80 percent of the salary in order to work four-day each week. On the other hand, the professor acclaims that the companies will employ more staffs, consequently they will buy more computers and other things; hence, they will waste a lot of money.
Second, the lecturer refutes the reading passage statement that the unemployment rate will fall with this policy. He claims that this policy will not enlarge job openings because companies will not choose a path that will cost more. Companies will rather start to find different options such as making their workers do overwork and pay the extra money. To make matters worse, companies might actually expect more from their employees to work as much as they would work five days during the four day period.
Finally, the passage believe that four-day employees will have enough time for spending with their family; hence, they will enjoy their life. However, the professor opposes this assertion and believes that the employees will not earn enough money; consequently, they will not be happy.
