In the passage, the benefits of team working in the project have been illustrated whereas the lecture is in contrast to merits of team work casting doubts at its efficiency. In the passage, it is said that with the use of different knowledge, skills and expertises of members in the newly formed team, the project will be successful. Instead, from the research made after six months of assigning team in the project, various drawbacks have been revealed out.
First, in the team, there were some of the members who had not contributed a bit but were given free ride as the contributors. This must have been discouraging to those who put their hearts and brains into the project.
Second, it is intricate to get recognition for the work you have done in the team. If the project is successful, the team will be exalted. However, the contributors are dragged behind and are overshadowed with the name of the team. No name was named in the project too which obviously made contributors distraught.
Third, it is complicated to run the project successfully as to get consensus among all the members is hard to achieve. After a series of meeting also, no considerable agreement could come into the floor. Thus, it is never a time saving decision. This can cause failure no any project. In the same way, if there are some influential people in the team, then right decision for the project is difficult to implement. Without any further ado, some of the members will easily agree with what the influencer say. Therefore, most of the time, decision is taken to the direction that does not work at all. Even the failure of the project is named under all of the team members.
Finally, it can be concluded that none of work can be accountable to an individual if the team is assigned. It is a risk prone decision where cooperation and understanding among the members is not easily obtainable. So, before assigning any team, proper research has to be done to get a substantial difference.
