The author and the professor both mainly talked about the painting which is called Portrait of Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet painted by Rembrandt. The lecturer have explained that the picture was truly one from Rembrandt and refuted the main points made in the reading passage. The following three reasons to support her opinion made in the lecture as followed.

First of all, the professor says that a luxurious fur collar the women in the portrait wears painted after the picture draw hundred years which questions made in the reading passage. According to the research, someone added nice clothes to increase worth of the painting.

Second, the speaker mentions that the lady in the original picture wore simple light color clothes thus Rembrandt did nice work by light and shadow.

Lastly, the lecturer told that someone putted extra pieces of wood to enlarge the space to draw more. In the reading passage, the author thinks that Rembrandt was famous for using wood panel. Actually, the recent research has shown that the pieces of wood are from same kind of tree which are used his famous painting “self portrait with hat”.

In conclusion, the professor says that this painting was made by Remtrandt.
