The reading states that the buildings of the settlements of Chaco Canyon were used for some purposes and provides three reasons of supports. The professor, however, explains that they were not used for those purposes and refutes each of author's reasons.
First, the reading claims that these structures were residential. The professor refutes this point by saying that scientest made some doubts on it. He says that if one houndred people live in any of the structure's room, they need many fire palces to cook. But, he mentions that there are a few fire places that would be suitable just for ten families.
Second, the article states that these structure were used to store food supplies. The lecturer, however, explains that their evidences for the idea do not support it. He douabts that if the place was used for storing maize, there is not any evidence of maize on the floor.
Finally, the reading contends that houses were used as ceremonial centers. The professor again explains that the author's evidence for the idea does not support it. He says that there were not only old ceremony materials but also some other material such as sand and stone too. Besides, He adds that the broken pots mentioned by the article could be used by construct workers.
