The reading and the lecture are about building the Chaco Canyon. The author of the reading believes that these houses made foe a purpose. The lecture casts doubts on claim made in the article. He thinks that all purpose are not convincing.

First of all, the author points out that these building are made for residential aim. It is mentioned that showed very similar large known apartment buildings at Taos where many people used to live. This point is challenged by the lecture. He says inside houses casts doubts. Furthermore, she argues that few fire places were found for only ten families and and no enough room space.

Secondly, the author contends that Chaco Canyon used as food storage. The article notes that houses used to store grain maize because of their large sizes and for a long period of time. The lecture rebuts this argument. He suggestes that no well supported evidence. He elaborates on this by mentioning that no trace for any grain maize in the ground or any storage container.

Finally, the author states that they built for ceremonial purpose. The article establishes that Pueblo Alto made big mound formed by pile of an old material contains a large number of pots. At the ceremony location there were discarded pots. The lecture, on the other hand, points that week evidence. He puts forth the idea that the mound contained a sand, stone and constructions material besides to pots and that mound was just a trash also the food was what left over in the site.
