The reading and the lecture both about the automobile using sources, which operate our cars, mainly include combustion engine and hydrogen fuel cells. The author of the reading believes that hydrogen base fuel cells is extremely beneficial to compare that engine as going through the combustion process. The lecturer casts doubt the claims made on the article. He thinks that hydrogen is not easily available to use as a source and it is better to approach the combustion engine.
First of all, the author points out that combustion engine needs a petroleum resource, while it is difficult to obtain, instead of, hydrogen readily approachable by the naturally water and gas system. This point is challenges by the professor. He mentioned that to obtain hydrogen, there is a process because it is in liquid state and affects really in an extreme temperatures.
Secondly, the author of the reading contends that by using the fuel cells, there is no pollution as compare to in combustion engine due to burning of the carbon dioxide, which disastrous for the environment. While the lecturer rebuts this argument. He says that hydrogen itself causing pollution to the surroundings because it go through the purification process and gives more pollutants in the atmosphere.
Finally, the author states that it takes a less o amount of costs for the production of hydrogen rather than combustion engine, which goes along of long and expensive procedures. The lecturer posits that the formation of hydrogen takes a lot of energy, which in back, takes too many expenses because there is usage of platinum, which is really difficult to fine and replace too. It bprrow its cost upto a high levels.
