TPO-15 - Integrated Writing Task The cane toad is a large (1.8 kg) amphibian species native to Central and South America. It was deliberately introduced to Australia in 1935 with the expectation that it would protect farmers' crops by eating harmful insec

In this set of the materials, the author of the reading passage expresses that three theories of preventing the spread of the cane toad, which was introduced from Central and South America, in Australia. However, the professor thinks that the author's methods contain some defects.

First of all, the author states that building the fence that blocks the toads to move in the parts that have not yet colonized. And this method was successful for preventing the rabbits impacted the native ecosystems before. On the contrary, the professor indicates that the fence won't stop the young toads and the eggs to cross the fences. Because the young toads and eggs will flow by the stream and river, the fence doesn't solve the problem at all.

In addition, the author claims that the government should organize a campaign to capture and destroy the cane toads. Since the cane toads and their eggs are easily captured and destroyed. However, the professor refutes the author's idea by saying that people who will capture the toads are untrained. The volunteers probably would destroy the native frogs who are endangered due to the volunteers lack of knowledge of the cane toads.

Finally, the author raises the point that researchers can invent the designed virus to control the population of the cane toads. On the other hand, the professor discusses that the cane toads will transfer to the United Stated for researching. It probably will carry the virus to the United States, and cause the ecological system damaged. Because the cane toads are parts of the United Stated ecosystem originally, the virus will damage the server problem to the ecosystem.
