According to the reading passage, increases human population and related growth of agriculture and uses of pesticide caused decline birds population in the United States. Whereas, the lecturer states that human population, agricultural and pesticide harm only few birds species and provides the reasons in article is unconvincing. He contradicts to certain points made in the reading passage.
To begin with, the lecturer opposes the first reason made in the reading passage that the forests, grasslands, and wetlands replace homes, mall and offices causes less space for birds as result, decline bird population. He mentions that human settle perilous for few bird species but provides better and larger habitat for other bird species. In fact, people complaints about increase populations of certain birds. For an example, passenger pigeon, rodents, hawk and many other birds surging the population. For some birds decline but over all other species population are increases.
Furthermore, the lecturer also refutes the second point made in the article that wilderness area uses for agricultural activities. He explains that it is true that growth of agriculture but in United State less land used for agriculture. Continue introduction of more variety crop but not uses the extra land, therefore uses of wilderness area for agriculture is not essential.
Moreover, the reading passage claims that uses of pesticide harm to birds because of pesticide infect the insect which are eat by birds and also pesticide contaminated water drink by birds. In contrast, the lecturer emphasizes that people now aware about pesticide uses and change in pesticide manufacturing. First, new pesticide is less toxic compare to past. Second, growing the pest resistant crops are not harm for birds.
