Both reading and lecture mention about birds population in which due to increase amount of population and due to increase of the use of agricultural lands there is decrease of wild life or not. The reading states that due to these reasons the bird population is decreasing day by day. But the lecture cast doubts about these reason. She says that the following reasons are not correct for the declining of birds.
Firstly, the author of the reading believes that birds population decreases due to the disappearance of habitat of birds. He says that the roaming place of birds like forest, wetlands, grasslands are diminished which causes the decline of birds population. But the lecture challenged this statement. She says that there is no decline in birds population. Moreover there is an increase of species of birds like eagles pigeon, hocs , and so on which are found in the streets. She also points out that these bird prey on other birds which population which may be decline.
Secondly, the reading points out that due to increase amount of population there is a increase need of agricultural land for food. so to support food for land there is use of wilderness which cause further decrease of population. But the lecture refute this statement. She argues that in USA to meet the demand of the extra population there is use of new more varieties of crops. So there is no need to depend on extra land which are used for birds roaming and no wetland is further destroyed.
Finally the reading says that there is a use of chemical pesticide which are harmful for birds population by reducing the reproduction of birds. The lecture opposes the statement people now a days are very much careful about pesticide use. So that there is a use of new much less toxic pesticide as well as pest resistant crops so that pest cannot cause harm to the plant. As a result there is no need of using pesticide.
