TPO-20 - Integrated Writing Task In the United States, it had been common practice since the late 1960s no to suppress natural forest fires. The “let it burn” policy assumed that forest fire would burn themselves out quickly, without causing much dama

In the lecture, it says that fire is an natural event and it doesn't only for destruction but also for creation. In addition, creation is one of the reasons why the "let it burn" policy implemented. What the lecturer says clearly contradicts with what the author says in many term such as destruction.

First of all, the author believes that when we let the fire burn, it caused much more damage than imagined, so it seemed like fire has devastated the beautiful forest. Although, the lecturer says that many new plants and more small diverse plants were risen after 1988's big fire in the forest because fire destroyed plants those were preventing others not to grow.

Secondly, the author states that wild life got affected of the damage caused by fire in the Yellowstone fire. The availability of food was low, so the animals needed to leave the Yellowstone forest. On the other hand, after the fire, it created ideal habitat for small animals such as rabbits, the lecturer says. Furthermore, when it created habitat for small animals and made small animals come to Yellowstone forest, the bigger animals came back to the forest because the availability of food restored since small animals came back.

Thirdly, the author points out that Yellowstone was an attractive place for tourist and it was the source that brings tourists but the fire destroyed such place and it deteriorated the amount of people who used to visit there. However, the lecturer states that it was a problem of year. The forest got restored on the next year and such fire that happened to Yellowstone won't happen in years because other influences caused the fire. Moreover, visitors came back in the next year and in other years.
