The reading and the lecture is about Ethanol fuel, and the writer believes that this biological fuel will never be the replacement for gasoline in the USA. However, the professor is optimistic about the Ethanol fuel, and he thinks this will be the next alternative of Gasoline by refuting all hypotheses claims in the reading.

First of all, the writer points out that, since like gasoline, Ethanol fuels also produce carbon dioxide, which is the main reasons for global warming, during the burning of them, it is unlikely to be an advantage for the environment. The professor, on the other hand, avers that even though ethanol also produces carbon dioxide, the process from which Ethanol come is an environmentally friendly process. He also says that as like all trees cron trees also absorb carbon dioxide for their food process, this will be the compensation for the carbon dioxide emission from the engine. Thus, this fuel is an excellent alternative to gasoline.

Secondly, the author posits that because of extremely use of corn plant for making Ethanol fuel, there will be a scarcity of food for the animal that relies on it. However, the professor rebuts this point by mentioning that since the element which needs for foul production, pets are not able to digest it, so those can be used for production. Also, the two process can continue in simultaneously and earn handsome profit from it.

Finally, the reading mentions that ethanol will not be able to stand in the market due to its high price, and if the government cut the subsidy, people will not go for the ethanol at all. The professor does not agree with the author in this matter and informs that if the production of plant grows, government help will not need. Moreover, he also says that a recent study claims that if the output of ethanol increase by three times of the production of now, the price will be 40% less, and which is very convenient for the consumer to use it.
