TPO-29 - Integrated Writing Task Large numbers of dinosaur fossils have been discovered in deposits on Alaska's North Slope, a region that today experiences an extremely cold, arctic climate. One hundred million years ago, when those dinosaurs were alive,

According to the article, in the winter North Slope was harsh climate and darkness causes the edmontosaur were migrating in the south to hospitable areas. The author posits three migrations hypothesis. However, the lecturer indicates that the author provides the hypothesis is not convincing and refute the each outline fact of the reading.
Firstly, the passage implies that since inadequate plants in winter North Slope, the edmontosaur migrate to the temperate zones. In contrast with this, the lecturer mentions that in ten thousand year ago the North Slope is warmer than today and arctic regions was not dark but sunny days. In summer, good growth of the plants which was used in winter, these dead plants provides good nutritious foods for edmontosaur.
Secondly, the author emphasizes that edmontosaur lived in the herd and it is help to migrations. On the contrary with this, the speaker explains that animal lived in the herd is not meaning for only help to migrations. But, herd help to protection from the predators. For example, Roosevelt elk lived in the western America. So, it is not reasonable hypothesis.
Thirdly, the passage states that edmontosaur were physical capacity to travel long distance with run very fast. On the other hand, the professor points out that adult edmontosaur have ability but juvenile edmontosaur were not capable and slowly travel. The adult have to also travel slowly with juvenile because of in herd they cannot leave their juvenile behind and travel alone. Therefore, it is not possible to travel long distance.
