The article talks about the three possibilities of the where this strange noise which heard during 1960 to 1980 by Russian submarines came from. however, the professor rejects each theory by bringing her convincing results.
First, the author states that this noise is for male and female Ocra whales who live in this area. they make this sound in order to attract each other .the professor opposes this idea by saying that these whales live near the sea surface. as submarine flow in the deeper part of the ocean, they couldn't detect and record their voice. therefore, that strange voice couldn't be for them.
Second, the reading claims that there is giant squid which because of their soft bodies they can't be detected by sonar. however, due to their intelligence brain, that voice might be produced by them. in contrary, the professor states that the Russian submarine detect this voice from 1960 to 1980 and after that, it disappeared. meanwhile, giant squids live in the ocean until today.and also scholars didn't find any reason to show that if this sound is for them why it vanished suddenly.
Third, the passage says that this sound would be recorded from some military submarine which secretly patrolling the area. but the professor says that it doesn't hold up, the sound which they recorded, change it's direction quickly and if it voice were from a submarine it should have some engine sound what should be recorded with Russian marine too. until now there isn't any submarine which is too quick and has a silent engineer to let Russian relate this strange sound to them.
