TPO-33 - Integrated Writing Task
The author of reading passage explores three major functions of carved stone balls. However, in the lecture the professor contradicts all the assertion by using specific points as supports.
At first, the reading passage mentions that stone balls might be hunting weapons because there are grooves and holes on the surface of ball which means that they were used as holding balls for throwing them. While, the professor explains that Neolithic weapons like arrows have the sign of being utilized, but the surface of the stone balls do not have these signs.
Additionally, although the author points that the balls were used as standard unit of measurement due to their uniform size, the lecturer states that the density of these balls are different because they were made from various types of stone. So, they were not able to represent standard system of weighing for trade purpose.
Finally, the author in reading passage asserts that the carved stone balls marked the importance of their owner's social condition. On the other hand, the lecturer says that non of the balls were found in the grave of important persons and as a result they are not the mark of high social status because in the past, important objects were put in the graves along with dead body of important people.
