But there are no evidence or report of that phenomena on other animals; which means that this theory is out of order as well.
Finally, the article debates that it might have been Europeans fur traders who caused the extinction of sea cows; after they came to the island in 1741. The professor refuses this point as well and argues that when Europeans came to the island, the sea cows population were already declining from hundreds of years ago. Therefore, the main reason is still undetected and the European couldn't caused the sea cows extinction.
