In the reading, the author claims that setting permanent stations on Venus is impossible by pointing out 3 reasons of support. However, finding all the reasons questionable and implausible, the lecturer repudiates the claim and states the idea that if the stations are floated in the atmosphere of the Venus, nearly 15 kilometers above the surface, the arguments presented in the reading will not be in practice anymore.
At first, the author argues that atmospheric pressure at Venus' surface is much greater than the pressure at the Earth's surface so that approximately all human will be crushed, should they land on the surface of the Venus. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that provided that stations floated above the surface, the pressure on them will not be too high. In that distant from the surface, the pressure is as much as Earth's surface pressure; thus, there is no danger of crushing.
In addition, the reading passage holds the view that there is no available supply of water and oxygen on Venus' surface. That being said, the lectures clarifying the fact that although there are no reservoirs of water and oxygen, the carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid could be employed for producing water and oxygen. Making vital supply of water and oxygen by using existed components in Venus' atmosphere is easy. Consequently, human does not have to import water and oxygen from Earth.
Finally, the author draws attention to lack of sunlight on the planet surface and the corresponding prevention the use of solar power cells there to make electricity. Yet again, the lecturer dismisses it by pointing out that floated stations can get enough sunlight reflected back by the thick clouds placed below it. Moreover, some sunlight can pass through the clouds above it; thus, there would be so sunlights that produce more than needed electricity.
