TPO-40 - Integrated Writing Task Many scientists believe it would be possible to maintain a permanent human presence on Mars or the Moon. On the other hand, conditions on Venus are so extreme and inhospitable that maintaining a human presence there would

According to the given set of the reading passage, it is the author's conviction that living existence on Venus is impossible owing to the several highlighted reasons. However, the lecturer casts doubt on this claim and rejects each of the authors' specific point by providing some counter-arguments that are as follows:

First of all, the reading holds the view that the pressure in the atmosphere of Venus is much greater than the Earth. On the contrary, even though the lecturer agrees with this statement, but he asserts that by establishing a floating station, 50 kilometers above than the surface, can solve the problem because of the fact that pressure is lower than the surface of Venus and as a result, the condition is more analogous to The Earth. Hence, no danger threatens the crush of the station.

Secondly, although, the author posits that several gases such as carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid exist on the atmosphere of the Venus rather than reservoirs of water, the professor, says that due to the presence of these compounds, it is possible for human survival by producing oxygen and water by utilizing of some chemical materials.

As the last point to emphasize the reading claim, the author explains that the huge amount of solar radiation reflects by clouds, which cover the atmosphere of the Venus. Yet again, the lecturer refutes this point by saying that the clouds above the atmosphere of this planet are not very thick. Furthermore, the station is able to collect both solar radiation from the reflected by the clouds and the sun in order to produce electricity.
