The passage and the talk both discuss the genuinity of one coin which was discovered in Maine of United States. The writer contends that the coin is not originaly brought by European explorers named Norse. The lecturer, however, refutes the author's assessments. She demonstrateds three reason to cast doubt on the claims made in the reading.
The first allegation of the script against which the orator argues is that the great distance between the Norse dwelling and the site where the coin was found is great. In contrast, the professor highlights the fact that archaeologists have found many objects far from Maine settelment which indicated that native americans were interested in traveling and finding unique objects all over the country.
Second, according to the text, there was no other coin found at Canadian sites; though, the speaker finds this idea debatable. She bolsters her opinion by stating that Norse explored wherever they wanted and finally have got back to their own place in Europe. She further asserts that it could be possible that they brought so much amount of coins by themselves and then returend the remaining part of them.
Lastly, The lectur contradicts this fallacy of the passage that the silver coin is not beneficial for North Americans community, saying that Norse members were aware of the native american enthusiasism in finding and exploring new objects. What is more, it was obvious that they really liked jwelleries and vovel object eventhough the coin was not worthwile in terms of value due to the material. So it is not surprising that they brough some coins for them to fascinate them
