In the lecture, the professor makes series of points that challenges all the arguments presented in the reading passage about the European silver coin found in Main archeological site. She states the coin is genuinely a piece of historical evidence and refutes all the reasons stated by the author.
First of all, the professor states that a great distance between the site and Norse settlement is not a good reason to refute the possibility of not having real connection. Also, she says lots of other material has been found within this two distance places. So, the ancient people travelled between places at that time to bring different object from different places.
Also, the speaker believes not finding other coin not necessarily means they do not have historical value. She states Norse was not permanent settler at that time and when he came to north America from Europe he packed up all silver coin with him and in the time of coming back to Europe he bring them back with him.
Lastly, the author states there was no use for the coin at that place. However, the professor refutes the uselessness of coin for north American. She states it had beauty attraction for them and they could use it as jewelry for necklace or using for trade.
