The lecture and the reading both discuss the possibility of living on Venus. Which the reading states that it is impossible to live on the Venus surface and provides three reasons of supports, the lecture refutes each of the reading reasons and saying that it possible to live on the Venus surface by set up a balloon station which will be fifty kilometer away from the surface of Venus

First of all, the reading claims that the atmospheric pressure of Venus is 90 times greater than the atmospheric pressure of earth, that cause nay human land on the Venus surface to crushed. However, the lecture argues that by having a balloon station 50 kilometer above the Venus surface that will lead to have the same atmospheric pressure as earth.

In addition, the reading makes the argument that there is no reservoir of water on the surface of Venus. Venus surface only occupy with sulfuric acid and carbon dioxide. The lecture counters this point by stating that carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid are helpful to get water and oxygen. According to the professor the production of water and oxygen by chemical process from sulfuric acid and carbon dioxide is easy on the balloon station and there is no need to import water and oxygen from the Earth.

Lastly, the reading passage argues that there is not enough sun light on the Venus earth. Because the thick cloud reflects back the sun light. The reading claims that there is no Way to get electricity on Venus surface. The lecture refutes this claim by pointing out at the balloon station level the clouds there are thinner, and reflect sun light will be easier. Moreover, the professor says that at the balloon station we can benefit from the light to get enough electricity to generate the station itself.
