The lecture is in contradiction with what has been presented in the passage. it talks about research conducted by a firm in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the team and group work. however, it reveals that the theory stated in the passage is inaccurate when compared in reality.

First, on the basis of the lecture and the conducted research, it is apparent that teamwork is not really teamwork in the real sense of the word since the team member has a free ride which means they shrug off responsibility and do not contribute to the project. when the team project is done in its great way, the insight is attributed to the group as a whole and there is no difference between those who worked hard and their counterpart. this is the opposite of the knowledge presented in the passage which states that group members can share knowledge and expertise to do the job better.

Second, since the group is made up of different people who have different opinions, reaching consonance sounds very difficult which in turn will lead to slower progress. Managing various meetings with the members of the group is so difficult and the process of decision making will be slower as a result. however, according to the passage, it is believed that the number of people inside a group is a positive criterion that makes the progress of the project faster.

Third, some people inside the group may consider themselves more influential and their influence may lead the group toward glory or failure. if they put the group in the wrong direction, nobody has the influence to prove them wrong. what’s worse is that if the project fails in such a dictatorship group, the blame will be placed on all the members of the group. this is in contradiction of what is presented in the passage that group members have the chance and opportunity to shine inside the group.
