In this set of materials the article posits that the increases in human activities such as agriculture, are harming the wildlife, specially the birds. In this regard it provides three reasons of support and the author claims that this growth will decrease the birds in number. However, the lecturer raises questions on the ideas and presents some evidence to refute them all.

First, the author of the reading passage states that human settlements destroy the birds' habitat. In the contrast, the professor refute this point by saying that these settlements can create a better and larger environment for birds. According to the professor, many people are complaining about the birds in the cities. Although a few kind of birds which loose habitat, the wide range of birds have a good chance for living in the towns.

The next explanation which is uttered in the article is that assigning more lands for agriculture will cause the destruction of the birds' habitats, like forests. On contrast, the lecturer explains that nowadays less and less lands are using for agriculture. She mentions that with inventing the new crops, there is no need for using the vast areas because farmers can harvest more crops on less land.

Finally, the author of the article claims that chemical pesticides which are being used for agriculture, have negative effects on the birds. Conversely, the speaker explains that people are aware of the terrible consequences of these chemical pesticides and they invented two possible solutions to handle this problem. Using less harmful pesticides and planting better crops, are the perfect ways which human can address for this trouble.
