The reading claims that scientists have found a dinosaur fossil which still contains remains of the actual tissues. However, the lecturer finds all the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all.

First of all, the author argues that researchers have discovered some small branching channels and a kind of soft organic substance inside the broken leg of this dinosaur which can be related to the blood vessels. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that this soft, flexible organic substance which they have found cannot be the remains of blood vessels. In fact, bacteria which have lived inside the bone would leave behind some traces that are similar to hollows of blood vessels.

Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that, based on the microscopic examination of the bone, the presence of the sphere could be the remains of blood cells. On the contrary, the professor underlines the fact that the sphere also has been found in primitive animals which did not have any red blood cells. As a result, the dark red center just is associated with a reddish mineral, not blood cells.

Finally, the reading asserts that the discovered collagen in this dinosaur's bone is a convincing reason for this claim since this fibrous protein is a core component of living bone tissue. In contrast, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that collagen cannot last more than 1000 years. Therefore, finding collagen in a 70-million-year-old fossil contradicts with researchers' idea about the collagen's lifespan. Consequently, this discovery has another reason such as the effect of researchers' skin who were handling the bone.
