TPO26 - Integrated TOEFL essay

The reading discusses the expanding of zebra mussel to north america. The author mentions the reasons which can anticipate that these zebra mussel are haphazerd for fish population of north america. Otherwise, the speaker tries to reject these agreements to approve that if zebra mussel spreading can't be stopped, humans don't have enough knowledge to pause it.

First of all, based on the passage, they can be transported by ships. The author mentions that these zerba mussle can undrego conditions which are in the ballast water to reach north america, or they can stick themselves to the bottom of ships. In contrary, the speaker states another aspect of this issue. she points out that the ships can be required to travel in the salt water, and it can kill zerba mussels. So the first reason given by the author omitted from the options.

Moreover, the lecturer explains that being dominent is just the begining for the zerba mussels. The other fish can change their habitats to survive. she expresses that they maybe have negative effects on fish which eat planktons, but they can contribute with other fish. The positive point can be eliminating the number of fish which compete to other fish. However, this describtion is the opposite side of what the passage states. On the basis of the article, being dominant and declining the averall fish population is the only effects zerba mussles can have.
