TPO34 integrated

Both reading and lecture are about the reasons of Steller's sea cows. both the auther and the lecturer believe that the reasons are not clear but they talk about three theories.

First of all, the auther mentions that overhunting could be the cause of extinction of cows. he says if it is correct, the population of these kind of marine animals would be large but overhunting could decline the number of them becuase they were good resources of food. The lecturer doesn't agree with this theory and it has for a reason. he believes that these cows were too massive. they were about ten tones so people couldn't take them away the sea and bring them to the village.

Moreover, the article points out the ecosystem diturbances. The writer mentions that the ecosystem disturbances could make decreacing of a particulare marine plant named kelp. it was the main resource of food. The lecturer ignores this theory by mentioning that it wasn't effective for sea cows becuase they have much more food resources. he adds it could be effective for other marine animals like whales.

Finally, the auther adds the third theory which is related to european fur traders. The article points out their catching to the sea and it could be cause of declining of population of cows by hunting. The lecturer rejects this theory by extinct evidences. he says that the ueropean were there just a short period of time and the extinction was long before they arrived there.
