warming trend

Essay topics:

warming trend

The reading claims that we are experiencing a global warming and the evidence for this is clear and provides three reasons of support. In contrast, the professor states that there is no conclusive of proof and he refutes each of the author's reasons.

First, the article avers that data from sophisticated instruments across the globe indicate a warming trend. However, the professor opposes this point by saying that it true that if we take all thermometers and average them, we would see that the temperature has risen, but he emphasizes that most thermometers in station are not reliable. In fact, he says that if we take only those from stations that are well maintained, specifically Europe, we will find that there is no warming trend after 1970.

Second, the article asserts that scientists have reported an alarming rate of breaks in the ice shelves of Antarctica. On the other hand, the lecturer casts doubt on this point by stating that this point is flawed and he says that it is true that ice shelves are breaking, however, the article fails to mention that there is evidence of warming and cooling in Antarctica. Actually, he argues that the cause of breaking may be unnatural and not related to the warming, so we need more study and time to approve this point.

Third, the passage posits that unbiased organizatins have considered the evidence and accepted as fact the idea that there is a warming trend. Conversely, the professor counters this point by explaining that this point is irresponsible. He states that these organizations have not wieghed the evidence carefully. He mentions that the UNEP report was published to the public before anyone examine it to sell the papers and not to inform the public.
