The graphs below show current rates of secondary and higher education among people in
various parts of the world.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Given are the two charts making a comparison of secondary and higher education among men and women in four different regions (namely Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and East Asia).
It is apparent from the information supplied that Western countries have higher levels of education than any places listed. Whereas there are a higher number of females entering secondary education, the opposite is true for tertiary one.
Looking at the details, the proportions of boys and girls who receive secondary education in Europe are some 90 percent and 100 percent respectively. In stark contrast, the figures for those from African nations are a tenth and a fifth. Latin America and East Asia, meanwhile, have more moderate levels of education – between 40 and 50 percent.
As regards higher education, the figures are much lower throughout the world. Whereas in Europe, approximately 40 percent of male adults and 50 percent of female ones gain a tertiary education, around 20 percent of adults go to college or university in Sub-Saharan Africa. The figures for Latin America and East Asia are marginally higher than those of Africa.
