Discuss a significant issue in your home country about which you are passionate and describe how you would use the education you obtain at our institution, American University (AU), Washington, DC, to create positive civic and social change once you return home. (250 words or less)

Before any materialistic values, we must think about moral wealth. After all, this is a heritage we will pass to the forthcoming generation. Therefore, when it comes to my motherland I cannot stop thinking about a mindset issue of people here.

I live in Kyrgyzstan, a charming little Central Asian country with colossal glaciers, 7000m mountains and the pearl of Central Asia lake Issyk Kul. But because its soviet past majority of the older generation consists of people with communistic views who raise a new generation under the shadow of a soviet mindset. This way of thinking once succeed in the destruction of one country, and now I don’t want this to repeat to mine. So I decided to start changes from myself.

"We have the power to make this the best generation of mankind in the history of the world or make it the last."- said John F. Kennedy and I believe that education obtained from American University will become my power to make changes in the heads of the new generation. Because there I won’t gain only scholastic intelligence, but also as a part of the completely new community will nurture in me new moral beliefs and understanding of this life. Upon arrival home, I will try to spread my knowledge to the citizens. However, it is not expected to be easy with the common effort of local citizens, I believe, by introducing fresh views of the new generation we will make our country flourish.
