Integrated TPO 42

The article brings three reasons to prevent the birds from flying through glass windows. However, the professor put the solutions under question. He asserts that none of these solutions would stop birds, which will be discussed in the following.

The first solution brought by the author is to replace normal glasses with one-way glasses. Nonetheless, the professor makes the point that one-way glasses reflex the light like a mirror. In fact, birds see the reflection of sky or trees in the glass. Therefore, they would fly into them.

Second, the article raised another option of using colorful lines outside the windows, such as stripes. In contrast, the lecturer declares that windows with designs include opening shapes, which birds see as an open hole and consequently fly through them. Moreover, if unpainted parts become smaller, the room of the building would become darker.

Another argument defines as a third solution, which relates to using the artificial magnetic field in order to guide birds away from buildings. Birds have a natural ability to sense the Earth’s magnetic field. So this solution could work. On the contrary, the speaker refutes the solution that birds use the sense only for long distances and use their eyes and brightness of light for short trips. As a result, the third solution is not convincing either.
