The line graph compares the number of people travelling to work by car, bus or train in the United Kingdom.
It is noticeable that cars had been the most popular way to travel in every year since 1970 and is expected to keep the position till 2030. The number of people who like to take train increased from the lowest point in 1970 to its peak in 2030, surpassing those for bus passenger.
In 1970, about 5 million commuters chose to drive a car while the number of people who took the train to work was less than half of it (2 million). However, ranked as the second common transportation chosen by about 4 million people, the bus had become less and less popular over the 60-year period. Also, 2015 saw the population for commuting by train overtook that of taking the bus, with approximately 3.5 million people.
By 2030, with a similar rising trend, the numbers of people who travel by car and train are predicted to reach their peak with 9 million and 4.4 million respectively. By contrast, the number of bus takers will fell by 1 million.
