The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity: 2010
The bar graph makes a comparison between the rate of workout done by Australian men and women at various ages in the year 2010.
Overall, the number of male working out shows a decreasing trend, while that of a female shows a rise in the trend with an increase of age. The workout rate of both the genders fluctuates through the period. Although, the number of young male working out outweighs the female of the same age, however, at older ages the latter outraces the former.
The percentage of male doing physical workouts, during the ages fifteen to twenty-four years, is noticed to be at 52.8%, being 5% higher than that of the female. A drastic fall of about 10% is noticed in the age groups 25 to 34 years, after which it hits its lowest point at 39.5% during the ages 35 to 44 years. However, the figure shows a gradual rise to 43.1% in the ages 45 to 54 years. It continues to go up steadily reaching 41.1% in the ages 55 to 64 years and touching its highest level of 46.7% at the ages 65 years and above.
The number of physically active female is shown to be less than 50% during the teenage and early twenties, as compared to the male gender that accounts for more than half. However, a gradual rise in the trend is seen as the age increases. It rises to 48.9% at first and keeps on rising to more than 50% at the subsequent ages, reaching its highest at the ages of 45 to 54 years. Onwards, it drops to its lowest percentage of 47.1% at the age of sixty-five years and older, leading the male by a minor difference.
