The given chart illustrates the amount of electricity produced and consumed by ten countries in 2014.
Overall, all countries, except Germany produced more electricity than consumed. According to the chart, Germany’s electricity production was approximately 60 million kWh short of the electricity used.
Furthermore, among the remaining countries, some of them consumed a little less than electricity consumption. China came first among other countries in terms of electricity generated and consumed but it only produced 1.4% more than necessary. Similarly, Russia ranked third in electricity production and consumption. However, it only produced 1.8% more than the electricity consumed. Although some countries produced and consumed the most amount of electricity, its production only exceeded consumption a little.
Nonetheless, despite the smaller amount of electricity generated and consumed, some countries wasted a lot of energy. Take Brazil as an example, it ranked 8th among the countries but left 16.4% of energy unused. Likewise, for India and Canada, which ranked 5th and 6th, they produced a staggering amount of 24% of energy unconsumed.
