The chart and table below give information about population figures in Japan.

The bar graph below show the variation in population of Japanese over a period of 105 years between 1950 and 2055 and the table gives the proportion of citizens aged above 65 in four different years.

At the first glance, it is clear, Japan population is increased gradually from 1950 to 2005. Population count has reached peak in 2005 with 127.8 million. However, in 2010 there is a slight decline of 0.7 million which is approximately a million. In 2015, it is observed that there is fall in inhabitant' s count to 125.4 million. Moreover, it is predicted that similar trend of declining will be followed to next four decades to reach a population count of 89.9 million which is almost 6 million greater than 1950.

Another point to consider is from table it is seen that there is a rise in senior citizen count from 1950 to 2005 with a count of 25.7 million which is almost 20% of that year total population. As a result of increased aged people count it is anticipated to have a growth of eight times of old people population in 1950 that is 36.5 million in 2055, which shares 41 per cent of total population of that year.

Overall, Japanese population may increase or decrease but there is a constant growth in aged people over 65. This shows that Japan environment is more suitable for old people. Additionally, they took an initiative to reduce population for next three decades in order to avail facilities for a limited number of population.
