The bar chart demonstrates the sales figures worldwide of games software, CDs and DVD or video from 2000 to 2003.
In general, the maximum figures of 3 games sections were relatively steady over 4 years. The sales of CDs tend to slightly decrease while the number of games software and DVD or video went up throughout the same period of time.
In 2000, the sale of CDs was the highest of approximately 35 billion of dollars, far higher than software and DVD or video sales which were about 14 billion and 18 billion of dollars, respectively. The figure of CDs was slightly declined to almost 34 billion of dollars in 2001 whilst the sales of other 2 sections gradually rose up to almost 15 billion of dollars with software and over 20 billion of dollars with DVDs and video.
There was not a significant change in the sales of CDs in the next 2 years with the number around 32 billion of dollars a year, however CDs still hold the first place of the sales ranking in 4 years. On the other hand, the sales numbers of software and DVDs or video continued to grow up from over 25 billion and 18 billion of dollars in 2002 to about 30 billion and nearly 20 billion of dollars in 2003, respectively. This growth of DVDs or video sales brought them to almost equal to CDs sales in 2003.
