The chart below shows the amount of leisure time enjoyed by men and women of different employment status.

The bar chart gives information about spare time enjoyed by men and women of 5 classifications employment status between 1998 and 1999.

Overall, men enjoyed more leisure time than women in three of the categories. There were 2 categories only women counted that people employed part time and housewives.

The spare time people spend was relatively equal and highest when they were unemployed and retired with about over 80 hours a week for men compared to approximately 75 hours a week for women. This figure was considerably lower of people who were employed full time with almost 50 hours for men and nearly 40 hours for women weekly.

Only women investigated in 2 groups which were employed part time and housewives. Housewives enjoyed 50 hours of free time, a little more than women who were employed part time, who had just over 40 leisure hours weekly.
